Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Psalm 127:4

A skilled archer never picks up a bow and arrow without purpose. They take time to study the wind, align their stance, steady their breath, focus their aim--and then release the arrow! Parenting is much like archery. If we don't parent with purpose, we end up frustrated, and so do our kids.

Parenting is one of life's greatest blessings — and one of its most serious responsibilities. Our children are not accidents or afterthoughts; they are intentionally crafted by God and entrusted to us for a season.

This metaphor speaks to the missional aspect of raising a child. God wants us to love and enjoy them, but also to train them up and send them out to proclaim Jesus to the world, wherever they go through how they live their lives in constant worship!
